In the automotive world, where vehicles face continuous daily challenges, Ford Ranger truly exemplifies ruggedness and stands out as a true symbol of reliability. Ford knows that durability and toughness are crucial for a top-notch driving experience, and understands that the vehicle’s doors play a vital role in ensuring both performance and safety.
That’s why Ford puts Ranger’s doors through rigorous and innovative testing, these tests are designed to replicate the harshest conditions imaginable, ensuring that the Ranger’s doors stay robust and dependable, ready to handle any challenge with impressive efficiency and outstanding durability.
Ford Ranger Door Tests: The Pinnacle of Endurance and Excellence
Tim Griffiths, Test Engineer at Ford Australia, explained that these tests go beyond traditional procedures; they are a true embodiment of Ford's deep commitment to quality and excellence.
The tests involve simulating the most extreme usage levels and the harshest driving conditions, reflecting the dedication to achieving the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Griffiths further noted Ford’s profound understanding of user needs, stating:“If you use a Ford Ranger for work or for entertaining, you know exactly how much durability the vehicle’s doors require.” For this reason, Ford has tested the opening and closing of the Ranger’s front and rear doors more than 100,000 times, simulating a decade of hard use in the hands of customers.
He added, “The door slam test is as challenging as any other test that the vehicle’s parts undergo during development. We open and close the front and rear doors in temperatures ranging from a colder than cold minus 40-degrees C to a piping hot 80-degrees C.”
Using two hydraulic robotic arms - one internal and one external - Ford simulates 10 years of intensive use over a month of continuous testing throughout the day. To ensure coverage of all closing techniques, from high-force to moderate, the door closure speeds are varied.
As if that doesn’t sound rigorous enough; Ford applies a special ‘gritty’ spray to vehicle parts to simulate outback and coastal conditions.
“Rest assured, we have tested the doors to ‘Built Ford Tough’ standards, which reflect our unwavering commitment to quality and strength in every detail of the vehicle,” concluded Griffiths.
At last, the testing of the Ford Ranger demonstrates a true commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and durability. By subjecting the doors to extreme conditions and thorough evaluations, Ford shows its dedication to delivering a vehicle that promises strength and reliability in every journey.
